Organ Gang in Pak Nabbed

Police in Islamabad busted a gang involved in trading in human organs when a gang member promised an ailing patient a fresh kidney for the equivalent of US$16,500 (2m Pakistan rupees) and scooted off. The desperate family of the ailing patient complained to the cops who set up the dragnet.

The police officer investigating the case told The Express Tribune newspaper that they nabbed one of the gang members who confessed that they paid about US$1,650 to poor people for their organs which the brokers would hawk for the equivalent of US$16,500 and US$24,500.

“He said doctors were also part of the racket and operations were conducted at a private hospital near Khanna Pul,” the newspaper reported on Sep 11, 2018. “The police checked the hotel record and cameras where the gang had met the complainant and the allegation was confirmed.”
